Keeping our promises.

At The Parent Power Project, we believe that no matter a child's race, ethnicity or zip code, every child has a right to an excellent education and the capacity to learn. We believe, too, that all parents want their children to succeed, although some may lack the necessary skills to ensure student success.

And we know that Rochester's egregious achievement gap will never be closed without broad community engagement and a keen focus on educational outcomes and what's best for students.

Join us in our work to grow an informed community focused on educational achievement. A mobilized community that knows how to hold the education system accountable. A courageous community that pushes back on special interests when they put the adults before the students.

An honorable community that keeps its promises to all of its children.

Real parental involvement for the majority of our parents and students does not exist. I fully support the goal and the agenda of the Parent Power Project to give parents, who have been intentionally shut out of the decision making process, a voice within the RCSD to be heard and to have a seat at the decision making table.”

-Allen Williams, RCSD Board of Education

"Education should be focused on the needs of children, instead of those of adults. The only way to create an education system that operates in the best interest of children is to give parents a seat at the decision making table. Parents are the only force that ALWAYS puts the needs of children first, without conflict of interest, it stands that they should have the power to make tough decisions that will take into account the very best outcomes for students."

-Hannya Boulos, Executive Director Buffalo ReformED

"We can no longer ask Rochester’s parents to be patient with the latest school reform plans, it’s time for us to help their children escape failing schools and to shine a light on the tragic educational inequity within Monroe county.”
